  • Educators and teachers
  • Community caregivers

You may attend on your own or with a co-caregiver.

About This Orientation

Caregiving often asks us to decide quickly: should I step in—or should I let this unfold?

Many caregivers are taught to intervene out of habit, fear, or social expectation.

This free, live webinar introduces a discernment-based lens for caregiving—one that centers presence, safety, and respect for children as whole beings with inner lives.

This session is the official orientation to the upcoming workshop:

Knowing When to Step In

A day-long, small-group workshop for caregivers

Rather than offering rules or techniques, the purpose of this orientation is simple and specific:

To introduce the philosophy, values, and relational approach that shape the workshop—so you can decide, with clarity, whether this aligns with you and whether you want to engage in the workshop.

This is not a training.

It is not a condensed workshop.

What This Orientation Will Cover

This session exists to help you understand how this work thinks, how it holds space, and what this approach can add to or change in your caregiving.

During this session, you’ll be introduced to:

  • The core philosophy behind discernment-based caregiving
  • The difference between presence and performance in caregiving
  • How this work understands boundaries, safety, and agency

This session is designed to give you a felt sense of the workshop’s tone and approach—not to teach the material itself.

The session includes a brief, bounded Q&A focused on:

  • conceptual clarification, and
  • workshop logistics only.

What This Session Is—and Is Not

This orientation is

  • Optional context for the workshop
  • Philosophy-forward and reflective
  • Live and relational

This orientation is not

  • A skills class
  • A problem-solving space
  • A place to discuss individual caregiving situations
