About the Sahana Movement
The Sahana Movement is a recently registered CA 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on building humane, sustainable systems centered on well-being, relational integrity, and real-world support. Its work includes educational offerings, public resources, and community-based initiatives designed to meet individuals as they are.
This role supports the movement by helping volunteers find clear, appropriate ways to participate—and by maintaining visibility into how that participation is unfolding.
Purpose of the Role
The Volunteer Path Weaver supports the Sahana Movement by helping volunteers enter, orient, and move through participation paths clearly and respectfully.
In practical terms, this role focuses on:
- identifying current volunteer needs,
- finding and inviting the right people into those needs,
- and maintaining shared awareness of where each volunteer is in the process.
This is an organizing and coordination role—not a management or supervisory role.
What This Role Involves
The Volunteer Path Weaver works closely with the organization to:
- Collaborate on drafting clear descriptions of current needs that translate into volunteer roles
- Create and manage volunteer interest or application forms (e.g., Google Forms)
- Share volunteer opportunities on agreed platforms
- Review responses and help identify good fits
- Participate in conversations with potential volunteers as part of the onboarding process
- Maintain a clear overview of:
- which volunteers are involved,
- which roles or support areas they are connected to,
- where each person is on their participation path (e.g., onboarding, active, paused, blocked)
- Support shared clarity around expectations, communication norms, and boundaries so participation remains respectful and safe
What This Role Is Not
The Volunteer Path Weaver does not:
- Manage or supervise volunteers
- Assign tasks or direct day-to-day work
- Provide feedback or evaluation
- Act as an authority figure
Guidance, feedback, and relational direction are held elsewhere within the movement.
How This Role Functions
- Fully remote
- Collaborative and communicative
- Works in close coordination with the organization’s needs
- Focused on clarity, follow-through, and continuity rather than output or optimization
The goal is to make participation navigable and sustainable, not to extract labor.
Who This Role Is a Good Fit For
This role may be a good fit if you:
- Find joy in connecting people and purpose
- Enjoy organizing information and processes
- Are comfortable using digital tools (e.g., Google Forms, Sheets) and tracking participation
- Care about clarity, communication, and respectful boundaries
- Are attentive, steady, and reliable
- Are open to new and more sustainable ways of working
- Are willing to learn as you go
Previous experience with volunteer coordination or operations is helpful but not required.
Time Commitment
- Flexible
- Light to moderate, depending on current needs
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week, with respect for well-being and boundaries
- Designed to evolve as the movement grows
Why This Role Matters
The Sahana Movement relies on collective participation to bring its work into the world. This role helps ensure that volunteers are invited in thoughtfully, oriented clearly, and supported with continuity—so the movement can grow without confusion, misalignment, or unnecessary strain.
Present Specifics
At this time, the individual in this role will work closely with the Founder. As the organization grows, this role is expected to transition to another relational anchor within the movement.
